Meenakari: An Ancient Art
Meenakari is an ancient form of art in India, the roots of which were brought over from talented craftsmen from Lahore’s Mughal palaces to Rajasthan (Jaipur) by Raja Man Singh of Amber . This was in the 16th century and the artists who were involved in meenakeri art were called as meenkars. Infact, Meenakri art is seen both in ornaments and handicrafts. Even today Rajasthan is the hub of meenakari jewellery, though this form of jewellery is popular all throughout India.
